A sort of employee benefit that allows an employee to extend benefits such as health insurance coverage to their domestic partner, even if they are not legally married. Employers who support same-sex couples or other nontraditional family forms are more likely to provide this perk.

Example

An employee at a firm is in a committed relationship with their same-sex partner, and the employer provides domestic partner benefits, which cover the partner under the person's health insurance plan.
